Today I decided to watch some more lynda.com Photoshop for Designers: Type Essentials tutorials, below you will read and also see what I worked on.

Chapter 6 – Path Type, Rotated Type, and Vertical Type.

Distorting type
Watching the video with the title above I learned how to us the warp option on Photoshop for just some horizontal and vertical distortion by, starting with an image with some text and selecting that text and clicking on the warp menu, you can select any warp option you want and by just by changing the vertical or horizontal option you can add some interesting effects to your image.

Converting type to shape layers.
I watched this tutorial I learned how to convert type layers to shape layers and also to add cool warp effects to said shape layer by, first starting with an image that has some text and right clicking on the type layer with the text you want to modify and selecting Convert to Shape, when you do that it is no longer a type layer so you can’t change the wording but, you can add some cool warp affects to the image. involved

On this fine day I decided to watch some lynda.com videos, below you will read and see what I watched today.

Chapter 6 – Path Type, Rotated Type, and Vertical Type.

Rotating type with Free Transform.
Watching this video I learned how to rotate type using the Free Transform command by first starting with an image with some text then you select the type layer and use the command [Cmd + T]  and hovering outside the transform box you can rotated the image however you like.

Working with vertical type.
As I was watching this tutorial I learned how to use vertical type on Photoshop by starting with an image then select the vertical type tool and insert the text you want, you can also use the command [option + left or right arrow keys] to adjust the text.

Working with stacked type.
Watching the video that is titled above I learned how to use staked type in Photoshop by “of course” starting with an image then selecting the type tool and making an outline you insert your text and adjust the text the way you want.

Transforming type using the Warp tool.
Watching this commentary I learned how to warp text in Photoshop by starting with some text in Photoshop and selecting the text you want to have a warp effect and clicking on the Create Warped Text menu you can choose a variety of effects ranging from bulge, arc, flag, rise, squeeze, wave, or the arch effect which you can apply to your text.

Thursday

Today I worked on a project most of the day I didn’t quite finish it yet but I will tomorrow. I also watched some lynda.com videos you will find what I did below.

Chapter 6 – Path Type, Rotated Type, and Vertical Type.

Create a work path from type.
Watching this video I learned how to create a path for type along a letter by, first starting with an image on Photoshop then you insert the letter you want your text to wrap around and right-click in the text layer and select create work path, then you choose the type tool click on the work path and start typing some text.

Wednesday

Well today I had another session of career center where I finished my resume and started working on my portfolio.
Also today as you can see with the image below I changed the theme of my website using Dreamweaver, if you click on the image it will send you to my website.

Tuesday

Today I decided to do an end of chapter project using the newly acquired skills I learned watching lynda.com Photoshop for Designers: Type Essentials, Chapter 5 – Masking Type.
The Image below I created for the project using Photoshop by adding the image and the text and adding a clipping mask of the image to the text then applying the following effects Drop Shadow, Bevel and Emboss, Contour, and Satin.

I also watched some lynda.com Photoshop for Designers: Type Essentials. Below you will find what I watched.

Chapter 6 – Path Type ,Rotated Type, and Vertical Type.

Setting type along a pen path.
Watching this video learned how to type along a pen path by first starting with an image, selecting the pen tool then by drawing the path you want you select the type tool click on the pen path and start typing in some text.

Setting type around a shape.
By watching this tutorial I learned how to on an image in Photoshop type around a vector shape by first using the the custom shape tool to create the vector shape you want, then you select the type tool and type the text you want. Also to position your text where you want it you should use the Path Selection tool.

Today is Monday and I decided to watch some more lynda.com tutorials below you will find what I did this fine day.

Chapter 5 – Masking Type.

  • Masking with a Clipping Mask.
    Watching this tutorial I gained the knowledge of how to mask type by using a clipping mask, here’s how, first you put the text layer behind the image layer then you select the image layer and option click between the image and text layer and “wha la”  you have a clipping mask on your type layer. You can also add some cool effect to the type to give it some “pizzazz”.

  • Masking with Pattern Overlay.
    Watching the moving pictures of the video I gained the know how to add patterns to text in Photoshop by selecting the text and going to its effects panel select pattern overlay and choose the pattern you would prefer having on the text.

 Chapter 6 – Path Type, Rotated Type, and Vertical Type.

  • Setting Type around a circle.
    By watching this commentary I learned how to set type around a circle by starting with an image on Photoshop and creating a circle using the Ellipse tool and selecting the type tool click right on the edge of the circle and just start typing some text.

The day before fall break is here.
Today I had another day at career center where I made a resume for my self.

Today I decided to watch some lynda.com Photoshop for designers: Type Essentials, below you will see what I did today.

Chapter 5: Masking Type.

Creating masks from type layers.
Watching this video I learned how to in an image on Photoshop to apply a mask to some text by selecting the text by pressing command and clicking the type layer then by converting the layer to a smart filter layer that you can apply some filters to add some cool effects to that text.

Today I decided to do watch some lynda.com tutorials.

lynda.com Photoshop for Designers: Type Essentials.
Chapter 4: Paragraph Formatting.

Adding space between paragraphs and paragraph indents.
Watching this tutorial I learned how to on an image in Photoshop add spacing in between paragraphs by selecting the text and opening the paragraph panel and just increase the spacing in the paragraph spacing box and it will apply itself to the text.

Creating a bulleted list.
As I watched this commentary I learned how to apply to an image of Photoshop a bulleted list by selecting the text you want and adding a guide to help align the text then opening the paragraph panel and adjusting the indent left margin and the indent first line boxes to add a bulleted list to the image.

Setting the hanging punctuation option.
This was a short video but I did learn how to on an image in Photoshop to set the hanging punctuation option by opening the paragraph panel and selecting the Roman hanging punctuation option and it will apply itself to the image.

Resetting the Paragraph panel.
This was a short tutorial but it’s meaning is just. This video showed me how to reset the paragraph panel just in case you start to type and notice the arrangement of the text is all messed up, you can reset the panel by going to the paragraph panel and from the panel menu select reset type and it should be back to normal.

Chapter 5: Masking Type. 

Using type mask tools.
Watching this image I gained the knowledge of how to mask type in an image on Photoshop by using the horizontal or vertical type mask tools insert the text you want then you press enter position the text where you want it and then you add a layer mask to the image.
